Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Vision Source Bolivar the leading provider of vision care products and services in Bolivar.

Dr. Laura Montgomery:

Dr. Laura Montgomery is a Bolivar, MO native graduating from Bolivar High School. After high school, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry from Southwest Baptist University. She was then accepted into the Masters program at Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) graduating with a Masters in Chemistry. After completing her masters she continued her education receiving her Doctorate of Optometry with honors from the University of Missouri St. Louis-College of Optometry.

Dr. Montgomery is a member of the American Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association and the Greater Ozarks Optometric Society where she served as treasurer. She received the “Excellence in Vision Therapy” and “The Light Award” from CMH Hospice for her volunteer services.

Dr. Montgomery, her husband Jeremy and two children, Collin and Mia, live on a farm in Bolivar. When not working Dr. Montgomery enjoys attending her son’s many sporting events, traveling, visiting her daughter at college and spending time outdoors.

Dr. Erin Genua:

Dr. Erin Genua is a Springfield, MO native graduating from Kickapoo High School. After high school, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Biology and minors in Chemistry, Psychology, and Global studies from Drury University. After completing her bachelor’s degree she continued her education receiving her Doctorate of Optometry with honors from the University of Missouri St. Louis-College of Optometry in 2008. Dr. Genua practiced optometry in Springfield, MO for several years before joining Vision Source Bolivar in 2016.

Dr. Genua is a member of the American Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association and the Greater Ozarks Optometric Society.

Dr. Genua, her husband, Peter, and her two daughters, Shiloh and Eliana, live in Springfield, MO. When not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and children. Dr. Genua loves being creative through music when life allows it.

Dr. Douglas Kirar:

Dr. Douglas Kirar is a Chicago, IL native graduating from HL Richards High School. After high school, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry with honors from Chicago State University in 1998. After completing his bachelor’s degree he continued his education receiving his Doctorate of Optometry with honors from Illinois College of Optometry in 2003. After completing his Doctorate, Dr. Kirar moved to Stockton, MO with his wife, Alison, who is also an optometrist. Dr. Kirar has served Bolivar, MO and the surrounding areas for 17 years as an optometrist before joining Vision Source Bolivar and Vision Source El Dorado in 2020.

Dr. Kirar is a member of the American Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association, and Greater Ozarks Optometric Society. Dr. Kirar has a special interest in ocular disease and emergencies. He is passionate about providing his patients empowering knowledge regarding their conditions.

Dr. Kirar lives in Stockton, MO with his wife and three children, Sophia, Gage and Emerson. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, barbecuing and time boating on Stockton Lake with his family.
